Instructions on how to earn a Merit Badge

1. Select a Merit Badge you wish to work on. Merit Badge Requirments

2. Secure a signed blue card from the Scoutmaster. Fill it out completely and legibly before visiting the counselor. Our district is Neta, our Council is Buckeye.  Do Not sign for the counselor or fill in the date completed.

3. Locate a Merit Badge Counselor that is close to you. Pam Wood has a current list to help you with this. Call her at 330.484.0865

4. Call the Merit Badge Counselor. Introduce your self to the counselor. "Hello, My name is _________, I am a Boy Scout with Troop 38, and I am interested in working on ________ Merit Badge. Would you like to help me please? 

5. Review the requirements with the counselor. This can be done ever the phone or in person. Always wear your Class A uniform when you meet with the counselor. **** NEVER, NEVER, NEVER meet alone with a merit badge counselor in their home. You must have a buddy. If you do not have a buddy a parent must be with you in the same room. An ideal place to meet is public places, library, McDonald's, etc.****

6. Complete the requirements as specified. Once complete the counselor will sign off on the blue card.

7. The counselor gets the  portion labeled Counselor's Record. The scout keeps the applicant's record portion. Turn the Application for Merit Badge portion into Pam Wood.
